Product Overview

Our SS 316 Rotary Gear Pump is a premium positive displacement unit precisely engineered for the safe, smooth, and continuous transfer of corrosive chemicals, volatile solvents, and hygienic food-grade products. Every major wetted component, including the heavy-duty pump casing, precision-cut driving gears, and internal shafts are manufactured from premium Stainless Steel 316 (SS 316).

By offering exceptional resistance against chemical corrosion, pitting, and oxidation, this pump is the gold standard for handling low-to-high viscosity liquids where product purity is absolutely non-negotiable. With its positive displacement design, it delivers a steady, pulsation-free discharge capacity even under fluctuating line pressures.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 100% SS 316 Construction: High-purity Stainless Steel 316 casing, gears, and shafts prevent fluid contamination and stand up to aggressive acids, alkalis, and DM water.

  • Positive Displacement Flow: Delivers a highly accurate, steady, and pulsation-free flow rate directly proportional to the rotational speed of the gears.

  • High Viscosity Versatility: Masterfully designed to transfer low-viscosity solvents as well as highly viscous liquids like syrups, resins, fats, and chemical binders.

  • Hygienic Internal Finish: Precision-machined internal surfaces eliminate rough spots, ensuring clean, smooth fluid pathways that meet strict food-processing and pharmaceutical standards.

  • Teflon / Gland Packing Options: Fitted with chemical-resistant Teflon (PTFE) packing or high-end mechanical seals to prevent dangerous chemical weeping or leakage.

Common Applications

  • Chemical & Process Industries: Transfer of organic and inorganic acids, chemical dyes, corrosive additives, and chemical bases.

  • Food & Beverage Processing: Safe handling of edible oils, vegetable fats, liquid sugar, chocolate paste, molasses, and syrups.

  • Pharmaceutical & Cosmetics: Pumping of high-purity creams, lotions, liquid soaps, and active ingredients requiring zero metal contamination.

  • Pure Water Systems: Reliable long-term transfer of corrosive Demineralized (DM) water and pure water concentrates.

  • 1. The Crucial Link Between Fluid Viscosity & Motor Speed

Unlike standard centrifugal pumps that run at a high 2900 RPM, rotary gear pumps require variable speed configurations depending on how thick your liquid is:

    • Thin Liquids (Chemicals, Water): Can be run at a higher speed via a standard 4-Pole induction motor (~1440 RPM).

    • Thick, Viscous Liquids (Syrups, Honey, Heavy Oils): Must be run at lower speeds (200 RPM to 400 RPM) by coupling the pump to an industrial reduction gearbox motor. Running thick liquids too fast will cause cavitation, excessive vibration, and motor burnout.

    2. Built-In Pressure Relief Protection

Because a positive displacement gear pump will continue building pressure as long as the gears are spinning, closing a valve downstream can cause catastrophic line pressure. We highly recommend installing an external pressure relief valve (PRV) bypass line or using an integrated relief valve model. This safely reroutes the liquid back to the suction tank if a downstream pipeline block occurs.

    3. Simple Maintenance & Self-Priming Action

Our SS 316 series features exceptional self-priming capabilities, drawing a strong vacuum to pull fluids cleanly from lower collection levels. Maintenance is remarkably straightforward because the entire pump can be serviced by simply removing the back cover plate—meaning you can inspect or clean the internal gears without completely disconnecting the main pipe flanges from your production line.
